“Suit & Tie” is the first new song in six years from Justin Timberlake, the actor and singer who is better than almost anyone at making celebrity a job without losing face. Ann Powers says it’s no accident that the song is an ode to the power of looking good in the spotlight.

Well…it’s ok.

I had forgotten that I had started this tumblr a year ago. I had no idea what in the entire fuck this space was about. In a sense, I still don’t.

This place came into being because I had gotten compliments that I posed interesting things on Facebook, but I felt like it was being wasted. So I started this bog on January 1, 2012 and kinda went crazy, then dwindled, but I’m back now, 869 posts and counting. And, you can also check out this tumblr on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/lilnerdette

I just wanted to say thanks for liking and reblogging my posts. I am always amazed  that you folks care about what I post—and I don’t mean that in some low self-esteem way. The internet is this vast, innumerable expanse of posts, people, places, and ideas. So I’m flattered and it reminds me that even though you can feel lost out here, you can ping out into this universe and get some pings back.

As you can probably tell, I don’t really have a focus except it’s on what I find interesting, funny, pretty, off the beaten path, etc. Also, anyone I follow you should follow. Tumblr is a very wonderfully weird place, but mostly for me, it’s a place of beauty.

Special thanks to Eric Case (whose thoughtful blog on faith is linked here) who I believe I was asking about tumblr’s relevance and just didn’t get it until I started (and bonus thanks for getting me into Twitter!), and Matterless (whose tumblr is linked here), whose kind words about my tumblr reminded me that I should get to blogging here.

Happy New Year and happy blogging!

The story [Rihanna] wants to tell is the one in which the endangered woman doesn’t get out, or leaves for a while but comes back, or at best does leave, but can’t resolve the mixed feelings she has about her choice.
