I had forgotten that I had started this tumblr a year ago. I had no idea what in the entire fuck this space was about. In a sense, I still don’t.
This place came into being because I had gotten compliments that I posed interesting things on Facebook, but I felt like it was being wasted. So I started this bog on January 1, 2012 and kinda went crazy, then dwindled, but I’m back now, 869 posts and counting. And, you can also check out this tumblr on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/lilnerdette
I just wanted to say thanks for liking and reblogging my posts. I am always amazed that you folks care about what I post—and I don’t mean that in some low self-esteem way. The internet is this vast, innumerable expanse of posts, people, places, and ideas. So I’m flattered and it reminds me that even though you can feel lost out here, you can ping out into this universe and get some pings back.
As you can probably tell, I don’t really have a focus except it’s on what I find interesting, funny, pretty, off the beaten path, etc. Also, anyone I follow you should follow. Tumblr is a very wonderfully weird place, but mostly for me, it’s a place of beauty.
Special thanks to Eric Case (whose thoughtful blog on faith is linked here) who I believe I was asking about tumblr’s relevance and just didn’t get it until I started (and bonus thanks for getting me into Twitter!), and Matterless (whose tumblr is linked here), whose kind words about my tumblr reminded me that I should get to blogging here.
Happy New Year and happy blogging!

Chicago Tribune headline, April 19, 1906, the day after the Great San Francisco Earthquake and Fire which destroyed the city.
San Francisco (never San Fran OR Frisco…that’s a midwestern thing!) is my other love, as I lived there for 11 years before moving to Chicago 9 years ago. If I still lived there, my Tumblr would be all about that amazing city, or The City, as we called it.
We share so much: total destruction followed by a rise from the ashes; unbridled passion for living; amazing architecture and of course, our penchant for having a nefarious reputation….
Maybe one day I’ll live in SF, but I need SF money.
Nice. So funny that she posted her own parody blog.
